Cell Phone Cost

While the price of acquiring a cell phone and associated service is going down, the cost of using a cell phone and associated service  is going up.  What do you think is meant by this statement?

I feel this statement means that vendors are making cell phone usage available for more people. In turn cell phone usage will cost more because of the amount of transmissions increasing. It is supply and demand all over again. Vendors supply the devices, users demand usage but also, the network demands more attention for maintenance. Relativity at it's finest to say the least.

"Nothing is really secure - Get over it!"

I think many people believe that when they develop networking security skills that nothing could possibly go unseen and every intruder will be picked up or at least noticed somehow. Not to sound pessimistic but there are some great programmers in the world and if they can break through the bank security, the common citizen of the web is basically a small fry. The good thing about developing network security skills is that you have a step up keeping your technology and information safe.

Good Luck!

One more interest

The other thing I like is traveling to see new places. I have traveled a lot for business but not pleasure. One of my goals in life is to do more pleasure travel. I've been to eight different countries and visited many different states in the US but I think it's more special when you travel at your own leisure. I am thankful that I had the business traveling experiences because of the opportunity to see new things. It definitely makes me want to see more of the world. One of my favorite things to do when traveling is eat. I am a sucker for trying new foods. Except the strange type of foods where part of the animal may still be alive, or ya see it twitch on the plate..(blagh) Oddly enough, I do admire some good sushi! I've had some great sushi around this country but I think San Diego takes the "cake" as far as some of the best sushi restaurants. One thing I noticed about traveling around the country is, when I watch movies with clips filmed on the coast, I can usually tell which state the movie is taking place in. I can tell based on the color of the water, what type of trees there are, the color of the sand and sometimes there may be a building with a type of construction I can reference to the type of architecture in an area. It is also cool to see hotels I have stayed in on the big screen.

Interest other then tech stuff

One interest I have is surfing. It has always been fun and exciting for me. I used to love surfing when I was back home in San Diego. I had a place on the beach where I could grab one of my surf boards and hit the waves. There's nothing like watching the swells come in and being able to run back in the house and grab the short board which people refer to as "the gun". Sitting out on the water waiting for the next wave is also magical. Tons of life is surrounding you and complete peace just enters you. My best memory about surfing was sitting waiting for a wave as the sun was setting. The sky was golden red, the sun was half way set and right when I thought I was all alone, I looked back and hundreds of people were on the beach to watch the sun set. Then as I rode the last wave in for the evening and went to the beach showers to wash off my board, I heard people complimenting my skills.

Technology I use to stay in touch with

Usually I access the world through the iPhone. The applications are amazing. There are other devices out there with similar properties but this one works for me...That is until it breaks or I get bored with it. Through the iPhone I use the handy telephone utility, facebook, text messaging (except when driving.. of course..) and that's pretty much it for the mobile device. I do not do much on the PC at home anymore. There was a time when I was skyp'n it up almost every night and I do admit to playing World of Warcraft. It was fun but way to time consuming. E-mail would have to be my second level mode of comm's. I probably check personal e-mail twice a week. With school, I have to keep in touch with blackboard, school e-mail and now a blog from blogger.com. I most definitely excited to see what the future holds for more communications applications. Thanks!

Technology

As for technology, I am still exploring my horizons. I have worked with lots of telecommunications networks and would like a deeper perspective on the education side of things. Military training is great but I feel I can grasp just a bit more understanding through the experiences of a seasoned professor.
The most interesting technology to me are information systems/telecommunications networks. Reason being is that there are so many participants in the scheme of things, so much effort in keeping things running that everyone can be a part of the big picture. Plus, how else are you going to call friends in Europe, Asia or any other parts of the world for free? :)
